The ??? of the Day Surf Diesel in a 92 4Runner 3.0

Has anybody done this... Is it even possible (is it cost effective) I know of a junk yard up in BC Canada that has a butt load of old surfs. What kind of mods would I be looking at. Thanks JonnY

that depends what cc it is. if it is smaller than your 3.0L than i would say no. but if the diesel is a 3.0l I4 that i would say get it.

I don't believe the 2LT (2.4L diesel) is as reliable as the 3LT. They're info out there, go find it.

You would think a diesel like that has way more torque than other gasoline engines, but the 1UZ-FE actually makes more...

Unless you get a 1VD-FTV...

That would be crazy.

The 1KZ is a great engine, it's what I have in mine. It is faster with a auto than the V6 was with a MT. (that's not saying much....) I don't think I'd go through the trouble to put in a 2.4L diesel though, basically same power as a 22re, better gas mileage, but you pay $.80 more per gallon for fuel....

Sorry Bigt, I don't have, and have never driven a 2lte, so you're right I was being a hater...... I've just heard several 2lt guys wishing they had a 1KZ and was trying to pass that along. :-)

Didn't Toyota build a better replacement head for the 2lte?
