I put mine behind the wall panel on the driver's side rear seat. To swap cartridges, I can simply pull out the bucket of the storage compartment.
I got the idea from another 4Runner in a junkyard.

hmm... if it'd fit under the passenger front seat without interfering with sliding, I'd put it there. If it didn't... I'd rethink what I already have in the truck. And since I've got a box behind the rear seats with 2 12" subs and an amp mounted to it, I'd probably slide the amp over to one side and put the changer to the other side. I've done similar with other vehicles and the bass has not affected disc playback. Helps if the changer has a decent amount of oversampling.
But now I have to ask...
... why the changer? Did your iPod mod fall apart? You could fit 12 discs on a 25 dollar Memorex MP3 player.

no the ipod mod was done on the other truck that im not driving anymore and is going tinto storage very very soon and under the seat would be a no go as it slides fw to let people into the back but behind the plastics on the drivers side might work i never though of that one lol and i think my jvc avx-2 just plugs right into the cd changer but i might be keeping the stock radio in it still cause i want to
