daily driving a welded v6 3rd?

Ok well I have my 4.56 v6 3rd member ready to put in my 4 runner. I am concidering lincoln locking it. However this a daily I drive in snow. I usually put it in 4wd when the roads are bad.
I have driven with a lockright in the rear of the vehicle before and it's doable the manners are a little weird but drivable.

I need some opinions b4 I do this and feel like a Tard for asking but I am pretty broke or should hold off and just buy a lockright for it?

i just went outside to drive the trail rig in the snow.. with a locked rear welded rear it made 4wd A MUST.. and still the rear would cut loose...
i would say no for a daily driver!

Yup I'm thinking that. I had a lockright in my 82 and was in 2wd and spun a 360 getting on a road one time due to black ice that was sketchy.
I am trying to figure out options for now. I think I might just keep it open.

id rather had a locked front and only use 2wd in winter i think... or a lockright rear and always use 4wd in the winter...

or save till spring and elock!

v6 carriers DO NOT weld up good..it's a 2 piece you weld it it gets weaker....i've running a 4cly welded rear for about 6 months now...WAY BETTER than the lock rite was

I run a detroit in my truck, does fine on the ice and snow I've run in. Wouldn't want it any other way.

Welded is going to be much more predictable than the lockrite... gonna be crappy ALL the time, not just when there's low traction!
