Front range offroad is the best IMO.

Using super calipers, you are able to retain the stock parking brake cable IIRC.

I disagree on the Supra calipers part...they suck from what I've heard and they are stupid expensive.

I used IFS Toyota calipers in the rear and an AP trans brake...works awesome.

... I;m sure they hold fine, but they are CRAZY rare. I thought they all had them, but there was only like 1.5 yrs of production that will work. I hear Brian is working on a new model that will use something more common.

What is it... Cadillac rear calipers that have a cable actuated parking break you can use but its tricky to hook up.

Theres two writeups on here for disc swaps.. Elvota and mine. Heres mine, which will also link ya to Elvotas (his is more indepth with part #'s and info)

https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116.../#post50586263

Honestly, the best setup is a Driveline brake, locker and the Full-floater conversion but your looking at upwards of $1300+ ...well no way more than that. You'll need chromoly axles, locker etc... I mention the locker because without a locker of some sort, with a driveline brake, if one wheel is off the ground, it wont work. The dif will spin... so you wont be 'parking' anywhere =)

I used Chevy calipers, T-case brake... and I stuck with semi-floaters, chromoly 4340's and a Truetrac, new bearings etc.

I love it. plain and simple.

I didn't say the supra calipers were the CHEAPEST option

And that doesn't mean FROR does not have the best kit, it just means they have a kit with tough to find parts....dontcha know.

sky manufacturing makes the caliper brackets and gives you the parts numbers on what you would need... IIRC thats what both of the threads that drew posted used...

FROR is hands down the best. You get full float out of it, and that can't be beat.

As for the supra swap....HUH, good luck. Spoken with Brian a few times about it, and they are looking to find something a little less rare. However, being that things are slow now, I'm thinking the tcase brake is the way its gonna be.

yup, skys brackets. I opted to just get their milled rotors as well but you could just as easily have a machine shop do that for you i just didnt wanna deal with that extra time

tc, were those stock axles you busted? or chromolys?

I'm just wondering about the legality of T-case brakes.

Would they pass inspection in your neck of the woods?

t case brakes will NOT pass a brake inspection in CA...
but im going to run one anyways because unless the DMV mandates that you have to get one, a B&L inspection isnt an issue...

Not sure what you're referring to ... I have broken stock CV's and Molly broke a stock rear axle and stock Birfs. Neither of our rigs have cromoly rear axles, Molly has 30 spline Longs in the front now.

If you have any questions about the FROR rear full floater, I actually have the kit on my 85. It is a great kit, but not all of it is necessary.

I chose to skip the stupid expensive Supra calipers and just used some IFS calipers so I have the same on all 4 corners. The AP e-brake works great and in Alabama they could care less about inspecting vehicles...I'm sure Kommifornia ia a different story.

ah, yea it was Molly i was thinking of. K

I bring it up cuz I've never known anyone who's busted or had to replace the aftermarket semi-floating chromoly rear axles... which i have.

Just throwing it out there as a viable alternative to the much more expensive Full-floater conversion.

the parking brake is a federal requirement, not a state requirement.
49 CFR 393.41 http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text....1.2.36.3.12.2
49 CFR 571.105 http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text...71_main_02.tpl

if you get pulled over, and a cop asks, and it doesn't work or isn't legal, you can get cited, and possibly have the vehicle impounded.

not trying to be the bearer of bad news, but it can happen.

true... but i wonder what kind of a butthead that cop needs to be to ask if your freaking e-brake works?
