Why did toyota not make solid front axle optional in USA?......always makes me wonder. AUS trucks always look so dam clean.

Toyota had SFA's as standard 'til '85 1/2. I'm not to sure why the went to IFS. My 1st 4x4 was an '84. I miss that truck, and I love the body style.....more than my '91

Well supposedly they went to IFS for the "smoother ride" and that was marketable towards a wider variety of people.

Instead of taking it away all together why not make it a factory option? I guess at the time it was not viable for toyota USA so why was it viable for toyota AUS?

I do understand that tracking baby thieving dingos in the outback could be a bit harder in an IFS rig.........

It was a smart market decision by Toyota, just not one which suits the preference of most of the people on this sight. Personally, I am quite happy with it, its no bouncy and with a rear locker the performance off road is quite adequate. With a front locker, I really doubt many of you would ever need SFA.
