22RE, what can it revv to?
I have a tach set up in my truck, as this is what I have noticed from daily driving...
Not much of anything off line, until 2,000 RPM, then it starts to 'pull' (keeping in mind terms of what these 116HP motors can do), pulls pulls pulls, then starts to deaden around 5,000 RPM, but will revv out in gear until 5,500 RPM, then shift. If I put it in N and WFO it, it'll revv limit itself at 6,000 RPM, which I'm guessing is the stock ECU limiter.
Anything?

I have revved my 88 to 6000 many times (according to the aftermarket tach I installed).
I concur that it's soft off idle, with a noticible pull above 2K, and by 5000 it's all but run out of 'steam'... so to speak. Revving higher than 5K or so doesn't give you any benefit shifting to the next gear. Though when on a hill, I tend to hold the high rpms until the truck can actually handle the next gear.
(good thing I don't use 0w30 oil,
)

Amazingly I only drove 250 miles after this picture was taken (about 4 months ago!) and rebuilt my engine. LOL
Oh yeah...I can chirp my tire in 3rd gear.
And, it helps having high performance piston rings. The secret is actually to not know how to put them on...and put them on upside down

Nope.
But anyway...my truck is weird.
It smokes a little when its hot and idles for a little then you take off. But when I start it up in the morning and have it idling for 5 minutes it doesn't smoke when I take it off. I'm thinking it might have to do with the head. But I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure 3.0's have the same redline and they have a limiter (can't remember if they do or not!) If you want to find out...put your foot to the floor;D And hope she doesnt bbblllllOOOOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.5-4.5k rpm are great but it takes a good solid nose dive in power past 5k. like hitting a brick wall. but thats what the cam should do and it does (oddly enough the 1st aftermarket cam i've had that performed exactly to spec)

Man if you have a 22re dont even worry about it that limiter will stop ya before you brake anything! ive tapped mine out on more then one time. i used to run the local mudd runs and you knew when it was my turn you would hear a little 4 cylinder tappin!!! cherry red exhaust 4 low 34TSLs never got stuck!! 1st gear 25mph!!! BEAT THAT! i did blow a rod through the block but that was after i drove it though the lake peddle to the floor windshield under water!! cant touch this!! i got a video i think i may just have to put the link tho..
