Rear E-locker and 4.30 gears

So I am looking at finding a used Elocker in the near future and from what I have seen they came stock with 4.30 gears. I would like to find all of the rear internals including locker, gears, etc and swap the front to 4.30 (97 4runner: stock 4.10 gearing).

***Also important to note I don't want an air locker

The question is:
1. Should I just find the locker and buy new gears?
2. I run 265/75/16 and would like the gear ratio to remain relatively stock. Since the stock tire size was an inch shorter the switch from 4.10 to 4.30 is only about a 5% decrease in gearing when the new tire size is factored into the equation.
3. If 4.30 gears is my best option(for what i want), where can I find 4.30 gears for the front? (checked a few places and only saw 4.56)
4. Am I stupid to want 4.30 or should I just get 4.56 gears? (I drive about 95% highway but when I do get off road I like to find the trucks limits...)

Thanks!

get the elocked 430. then find a front 430 diff n swap it out...its pretty easy. 430s are fine for 32's...even 33's. dont bother with 456's. if you want to regear, go 488's but then you're looking at regearing both ends...and since youve got the front open might as well throw in an ARB...and then...and then...etc.

keep it simple and keep the 430s.

Yep, factory E-locker and 4:10's here. If you like the gearing you have, I'd just get a 4:10 geared E-locker.

Thanks for the information everyone.

I know the e-locker came with 4.10 stock as well but I want the 4.30's to make up for my larger tire size as well as the increase in rotating mass. I can definitely feel a difference when I go back and forth between the 265/70 and 265/75's (I have two sets of wheels and tires) and when I tow my trailer and bike I can only imagine I will be disappointed.

I'll be in purchasing mode in the next few weeks if any one has what I'm looking for... 4Runner 202020????

Thanks again!

If you want the easiest I would try and find a 4.30 front diff.

I will be selling my oem rear gears if you want to get a 4.56 front diff and change the rear.

Sounds like my next "SR5 to Limited" project. One option my 4runner did not come with and wish it had. Just called my Toyota dealer and found out my gearing is 4.10. NOt to hijack the thread, but if you plan on staying stock with wheel and tire sizes, what is the advantage to going to 4.30? What will it change as far as the odometer? Never totally understood the gear ration thing.
