Has anyone done an first gen. 4Runner/truck frame swap? I have a '91 PU with rusty frame and happen to get a free '85 4Runner frame (w/o suspension). Thinking about swaping it if it's not too much of a work and source a SFA from elsewhere.

Any idea or input will be appreciated.

Sorry if the topic sounds confusing, which it is.

I meant the 1st gen Runner or 2nd gen truck frame swapping to the 3rd gen truck frame. In other words, the SFA frame swapping with IFS one.

 

I am fairly certain that the two frames are dimensionally different. I could be wrong, but I believe that the 4Runner frame is narrower than the P/U.

 

I don't think your right rob because all the IFS stuff is, and some of the crossmembers might be transferrable between the P/U and 4Runner.

This is just an educated guess.

 

would a gen2 4runner frame work with a gen1 runner if you custom mounted shocks?

 

try checking out the fsm links above. sometimes they have frame dimensions listed, you could know for sure then.

try 4crawler, might be some dims on his site.
