Question Where + how to carry a long gun in your 4Runner?

Any suggestions on locations and methods for transporting a long gun (rifle or shotgun) in your 4Runner?

Preferably a smart place and way to strap it down or lock it into place, while it's in a carry case (hard or soft).

Pics too, if you have them, would be great.

Thanks!!!

I always carried mine right tucked up behind the rear seats. In the case they fit perfect between the side walls. Both my deer rifle and my 12 gauge fit there taught, due to a perfect fitting cases. Never had to strap down. My buddy built a mount to mount them to the back of the seats in his 2nd gen 4runnner. Works with seats up or down. Sort of a strap system to retain different size gun bags.

Second that. I put mine right behind the back seat. My shotgun, and other rifles all fit fine back there. They might move around a bit, but never enough to need a rack or anything.

I lay my rifle on the back seat on top of my clothes. I carry a single shot 20Ga daily that is tucked beside the passenger seat and console. My pistol is just randomly placed on the seat, door pocket or a good place is the 4wd shifter boot. Cabellas has a coolceiling mount for one or two guns. I want one but with a sunroof it wont work, i my 4runner anyway. here a pic of the deer i killd this year if anybody cares.

Seriously. Its all about tucking the M4 in between the center console and the passenger seat. Makes a good conversation piece for any new passengers...
