Wet air filter stopped running

Same day I almost crashed at 60mph because of my stupidity...I decided to go through a puddle of water (bottom of rockers) and got water/mud into my air filter. Unknowingly I went through it again and started driving down the road. And suddenly lost all power and died. I started it and ran it with my foot on the gas...and white smoke came out...feared the worst I took off my air filter and it was soaked...and took off the intake piece and there was foam there. I got all the water out and drove it for the rest of the day fine. Today I had a power surge and my truck acted like it was going to die. I bought a new filter and not sure if it cured the problem.

Is there anything else I should do or change? Thanks!

Oh yeah...just today my truck didn't fully heat up like it should...only went approx 1/2 the way and stuck there...ideas?

my truck took a plunge in a very deep mud puddle more like a lake lets say. and the engine died completley submurged. i got it started in the water and backed out of it, while the engine was still gurgling and i couldn't get any rpm's out of her. then drove it home and havn't had a problem, i blew out my air filter tho, im using a cheapo shucks K&N knock off

Okay...the surge feels like its when its after start up...no matter how long its been sitting. If its hot or not. It will just feel power less...until like 30 seconds later and it has its normal power.
