Ordered up a set of matched-balanced injectors to replace my OE ones. I have searched this topic extensively and can find plenty of info relating to the o-rings on the injectors, but I cannot find anything about torqueing the intake manifold.

Is there a torqueing sequence for re-installing the upper 1-2 of the intake? Also, does anyone know what the torque spec is?? This is an 89 22re, BTW.

One more thing, there is a screw on the bottom of the throttle body that appears to be used for setting the idle. It was an Allen head screw with a locking nut. Mine is gone! It doesn`t appear to change anything performance or idling-wise, but I would like to have that screw there as it could be useful for adjusting the idle or to `limp home`in the event of some random EFI problem prevented the truck from idling normally.

There's a sticky on the main page of this forum that has link's to FSM's. There's one for '93's, but it will work just fine for your sequencing and torquing. I'd swear it's even in a Hayne's manual, but I don't recall.

Yeah...the allen head is the throttle stop screw. It's function is not to adjust the idle proper, rather to set the the throttle plate opening for base idle. The proper idle adjust is done the with the idle bypass screw. There's really no need to mess with the throttle stop once you have one. Of course, when you do get one and install it you'll need to check the TPS adjust as the throttle plate will affect the idle setting.

the stop screw (you are missing) is used to hold the throttle very slightly open so that you can compensate up or down with the idle bypass screw. the stop screw also has the nice benefit of keeping the throttle plate from fully closing and getting stuck in the throttle bore.

 

Aha, could that also explain my extra-low idle?

I`ll replace the screw, do you set the throttle stop when the motor is warm?

That doesn`t seem like much, but, be damned the dreaded "snap" followed by a lengthy lefty-bit / helicoil...

doesn't sound like a lot of torque, but if you have the support from the lower manifold to the engine mount, there's not much torque applied to the head.
