Fabbed a '92 map light mirror into my '88.


Had to drill a extra hole to make the '88 triangular bolt pattern.

Used my jig saw to cut a spacer for the deeper map lights to fit.


Sprayed it black to match my trim and installed. The old light was one wire, the 'map light is a two wire. I grounded the one to chassis and left the other in the plug. Also needed longer bolts to compensate forthe spacer.



Came out alright. Much better lighting.

Nice, I was thinking of doing the same thing. Looks really good. A couple questions:

So that was a stock option for the 1992+ 4Runner?

Did you connect it to the other dome light so that it comes on when the doors are open?

 

my 3rd gen has that too so that opens ur options a little

 

your's came out a lot better than what I did in mine....


isn't it nice having working Map lights?

Matt, I don't know if that was stock option for '92. I brought it off ebay labeled as '92 interior lighting. The door latch option doesnt work on with the map lights because there is not interupt ground circuit on these but I didnt care about that. I just wanted good interior lighting for when I need it. It is a huge difference.
