Aux Lights mounted by Windshield/ Bad Glare?

I always liked the look of having a couple Hellas mounted up on the fender on either side of the windshield like cops and jeeps. Do any of you have this? Does it effect visibility negatively more then positive due to reflection off hood? I have seen a couple yotes that have them there and they look BA, but function is important to me. Let me know your thoughts and experience. Cheers all!

Thanks Godzilla. I was reading through some of those earlier. I'm not so concerned about mounting. I can make anything or just drill into the fender. I was more concerned reflection off the hood effecting visibilty, causing bad glare. My rig is white! haha I tried to PM some of those guys, but I thought I would start a thread to get feedback faster.

I ran a set of KC daylights on the windshield post on an old VW Baja I build in high school. The glare was not the best IMO, I ended up painting the hood flat black and that helped to reduce the glare, and that was off a while 1 piece fiberglass front end. ..I have seen some people use a type of side shield..
Personally if I were to do it on my truck I would go through the fender instead of the windshield post.

934rnr - Yeah just like that. Although I probably will just drill right into the fender. I am bolting on some glass fenders, so I don't have to drill through the stockers. I think I'll just go for it. Screw it.

OCdropzone - That was my concern being a white car and all. I might have to paint her flat black, lol.
I was also going to look at putting them right in front of the side mirrors on the door, so the windshield post acts as a shield, I don't know.

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't. On my white 4runner, I had them up on the roof rack bar, which was above the windshield. Had waay too much glare for me. moved them back and it helped, but I just took them off. gotta mount them on the front bumper now. If they are more spot than flood it may not be too bad, but I would still like the least amount of glare off of my hood, know what I mean?

police style post mount spotlights are only ~ $25 on fleabay. search "unity spotlight".

these websites charging $200 for them are apparently on crack. to avoid the glare, you must use a spot beam, not a flood beam, and again, only for point and shoot, not for continuous night illum. put your night illum floods on the front bumper to avoid hood glare, and replace your stock headlights with higher watt hi-beam bulbs.

I took the cowl panel off and mouted mine on there. I did not like them as the glare was to much and depending on where you wheel at they grab all the branches and tree vines. They were pretty useless. I would mount them up top on on the front where it would be easier to make a guard to protect them.
