Wheelin in Pachaug! Looking for fellow Ct wheelers

Looking to see if anyone would like to take a trail run on some LEGAL trails this weekend. You will have to be moderatly lifted with some decent size tires. As the trails will get harder as we go. If anyone is interested pm me and I will give you more info.

We are heading out at 12:00 on Sunday if anyone wants to meet us. I will check the thread in the morning to see if anyone has posted that they want to go. But as of now we are only 3 deep, possibly only 2!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. but... Only the open state forest roads are available for wheeling. This past summer, there was a bunch of crap hitting the fan over the use of what we all considered challenging forest roads. Unfortunately, we found out that the only thing open out that way is Sh e tucket Turnpike(edit: for some reason, the censor software won't allow me to write the correct name of the road). All the challenging trails are CLOSED as they are actually the motorcycle enduro route.
I would ask that you stay off those trails as it will definitely hurt our efforts to obtain legal, open, CHALLENGING roads within our state forests. There are some of the open state forest roads down in the southern part of the forest but they aren't anything more than lightly muddy.

If you have any questions, please, just ask.
I have been wheeling all over New England (and other parts of the country) for over 20 years. I have lots of experience in the wheeling community and have a pretty good handle on what is open or closed throughout a good deal of New England.
I'm not saying this to be a prick either, I just want to be able to continue wheeling legally and help others to do the same. Things that will hurt that ability I'll do my best to educate people so as to keep what we have and possibly even open up more. I am currently working with the state on the possibility of getting certain roads actually posted as open for our type of 4WD use.

Another way to guarantee that you're wheeling legally is to join up with a club.

Most dues are about $50 a year. Most clubs offer at least one run per month and also have an open invite to fellow EC4WDA members, so one can attend all the other clubs rides taking place each season. Last year, over 120 events were on our 08 schedule.

Talk soon,
