ok, so im going to school full time now to become a gm auto tech, and i got to pull my truck in the shop one after school... and i was messing around trying to balance out my mtr's... but i havent had much luck... and it sucks because i have to drive 50 mins. to get to school each day and 50 mins to get back home! on bumpy tires no doubt...

anyways i was wondering if any of you guys daily drive with the bb's in the tire trick...?

ive heard that putting a small package of those air soft bb's (or real bb's???)through your valve stem will completely balance out a set of mud tires.

i had a buddy of mine dismount a set of stock Artic Cat DVX 400 rear tires today and there were little rubber bb-like balls in the tire... same deal...

any thoughts??? FACT or FICTION?

i think id have to say fiction unless told otherwise... ill have to ask my friend who works at Americas Tire if he has ever heard of that.. i know that he got his 37in goodyear MTRs ballanced to damn near perfection... i guess depending on the size or agressiveness it could be a lost cause.. like a 40in bogger lol

 

I've hear of, and even seen here on YT, of a type of balancer that mounts like wheel shims that's kinda the same idea; metal spheres suspended in a liquid inside a ring that's about a foot in diameter and fits inside the rim, I dunno though; seems like it would 1) take a lot of BBs to make any sigificant weight, and 2) I would think that once the slightest wobble started, all the BBs would go to that "heavy" spot on the tire and through the balance WAY off...

but then again, I wasn't an A student in physics in highschool

 

worked at a tire shop for 2 years and never seen nor herd that one. ive balanced some tho ill tell you what if your only running 33s or 35s you can do it one way or another they can be balanced. i balanced a set of 38 boggers dead on you just got to mess with em a little..

 

never heard of airsoft projectiles or of bb's...
... but there is some merit to loose weight in a tire acting as a dynamic balancing mechanism.

a.k.a. Long Haul truck drivers. Tire costs are a big concern.

 

The tiny rubber BB-like balls are formed when you have bits of rubber inside the tire. They collect together and roll around the tire forming into balls. Usually, the rubber appears from getting a nail into the tire or from running too low of a PSI thus rubbing occurs inside the tire.

i did it with my 39.5x15 tsl's! used to death wobble at like 45 now it hits 60-65 (fast as my truck will go!) as smooth as silk!!!

i could see it workin, how much do u put in tho a couple or 10 or how many? clarify if its the plastic or metal bbs to, i was wondering to if the tires got hot enuf coult the bbs melt in the tire???

 

dunno fact of fiction about the airsoft pellets, but i do know that pro rock crawlers use lead bbs, and a lot of them, to lower their center of gravity when climbing...

but then again, im talking about trailer queen custom one off rock buggies...

 

i used 17 oz of plastic airsoft bbs in my 39's, they dont fit in the valve stem so you hav eto break the bead to put them in. i also did a set of 35 truxxus tires with12 oz and i have seen the 35's doo 100MPH!!!! and smooth as silk

I seen a bunch of guys put about a cup of coolant in the tire. I don't understand it exactly, but I heard from guys that have tried it and it works. The only downfall is it's real tough to patch a nail in the tire. The coolant forms a gel on the inside of the tire making it hard for the glue to bond to the rubber.
