Power supply issue, or just random occurance?

I have an 89 toyota 4 runner with the 22-re in it. I commute via a ferry to work and the other day I drove on to the ferry no issues the truck has been working great but when I tried to start the truck up to get off the ferry there was no juice at all. I tried turning the key 3 or 4 more times and the power surged on, but my clock reset as well as my radio presets lost. The battery is new last year, and I just changed out the alternator about 2 months ago. One issue that I have heard can relate to the charging system is the E-brake light being on. Regardless of if the E-brake is on or off my warning light for the E-brake is always on. Anyone have any guesses? Thanks

Check the power wire that goes from the battery to the fuse box under the hood, if its loose or coroded you will loose all power, it can be intermitent and work sometimes and not others. i had this problem on an 84 4Runner, and had to replace the main power wire from the battery to the fuse box.

yeah, just sounds like a bad connection at the battery

what you read about the lights on the dash coming on, what happens when the alt stops charging it the battery AND brake light come on

if just your brake light is staying on all the time, it's nothing new on YT. use the search function and type in "e-brake light" or something of that nature.

I had this happen to me last week. I made a thread about it thinking my truck was about to die a tragic death.

It turned out to be that the connections at the battery were dirty and was cutting out power to the truck.

There were some other helpful suggestions in the thread I created, if your problem persists.

Everybody pretty much covered everything.
check the terminals and wiring. look for any loose fuses, etc.
check the voltage at the battery to determine if the alternator is working.
