hey fellow yota lovers. I got a used Con-Fer(sp?) rack for my runner its 48"x48"x6". The guy before me welded the brackets to the rack for his jeep and needless to say it was the wrong size for my rig. So I cut them off and I put on 8 light tabs(in Az we wheel at night) high lift mount, and shovel mount. Anyway this weekend I plan on pulling down the head liner, but my question is what is the best way to mount this thing? I DO NOT have factory rails on my roof. Thanks guys

 

THe way I mounted my rack was to go to the wrecking yard and bought factory rails and cross bars and mounted them, then mounted my rack to them. I think you could get almost any rails ( after market or factory) and mount them to your roof. There are lots of aftermarket cross bars and feet availble for differnet rails.
I used "nutcerts" to mount the rails- kinda like a big rivet but it leaves a threaded insert in your roof- then you simply bolt whatever you want to your roof. No dropping of the head liner neccessary!

First of all sick truck bud. Thing is a BAMF, what lift do you have? I wish I had the 3.4L, my runner sittin on 33"'s has the 3.0 with an auto behind it and it struggles to keep up with traffic just taking off from stop lights. But anyway those nutcerts things sound awesome, I need to research those guys, where can I buy them?? I guess I need to go junkyard doggin for some rails this week!
