First, 1994 4Runner 3VZE

So, on the way to work today my engine put up an error 71 (EGR). I opened the hood when I got in the parking lot, popped open the hood and found this below. My question is what kind of connectors do I use to put into the female part of the adapter? The wire hangoff from the connector seems too small to be able to splice together. I was thinking put connectors on the wire from the harness, put them to the connector, and put the 10k resistor on them to do the EGR Removal.

do you mean take the old connections out and just soder the wires in there, or something else?

yes. inside the plug there is that metal thing .. well , there is usually a little plastic piece holding it in .. all you have to do is push that plastic piece down.( when I did it I used a Very small flat head screw driver ,but I'm sure a bobby pin would work) and the metal this should come out.( you probably have to look at it real close ,maybe with a flash light if you can't see. ) It's easy to do . Solder them together ... then you just slide it back in and it should lock back in by itself.

even easier, go to the auto parts store and by the weather proof connectors and cut the plug out and replace with the connectors.

 

I just pulled the wire connectors out of the housing, stripped off a little bit of the harness, and soldered it right back on there.
