body lift...suspension lift.

i am still a noob here just trying to add on to my 2000 runner. i have been wanting a lift kit but theres no way i can spend 1000 dollars right now. i need something alot cheaper. i was just wondering what is out there and what the technical differences between a body lift and a suspension lift are.

i dont do rock crawling just some light offroading and normal driving but i want to make my car look better as well.

thanks guys

the body lift and suspension lift both allow installation of bigger tires.

suspension lift gets your drive train/frame off the ground, while the body lift just gets the body off the ground. if your hurting for cash i would get a BL, there cheap and get the job done!

A body lift does just what its name implies. It lifts the body off the frame. If all you're doing is pavement pounding, they're fine provided you stop at 2". After 2" it gets to the point where I personally worry about safety in the event of a roll over. I've read and seen horror stories of cabs/bodies leaving the frame in a bad accident. Buy a quality body lift too, I suggest buying one from 4crawler, not one of those 70 dollar Performance Accessories ones.
