could be low oil pressure or a problem with the sender.
that didn't help at all, did it?

you'll need to put a pressure gauge on it and read the actual pressure. and if it's low, start fixing things.

If it is making noise when the oil light is on, and not when the oil light is off then its probably not a sensor.

thats exactly what happens...when the oil light is on it makes a sluggish missing sound that slowly goes away untill the light is off and it only happens when the motor is warm...do you think it is a bad oil pump?

I'd say replace the oil pump.

I would open the bottom end up, and determine if it's the pump or the bearings before I go changing pumps out.

If you have oil pressure issues, there's a good chance you've already done damage. Simply changing out the pump would be a band-aid at best.

What weight oil are you using?
At only warm starts? It doesnt do it from speed to say stopping and idling at a red light?
What kind of mileage on the engine?
and X2 on a guage. maybe a permanent one
