Exclamation i have a 2wd that i want to convert 4x4

i have a 2wd 1987 pick up xtra cab.... i want to know if its possible to make it 4x4. i have a 94 toyota pick up that is 4x4 but it was my buddies and he wrecked it so its going to the yunk yard and i was wondering if i could tranfer all the 4x4 parts to mine. like the tranfer case and the axels but what do i need to do or if its ever possible.

It would be awesome to do, but i have heard multiple times that it is more hassle than it is worth, do to the fabrications for the switch, the parts needed and the geomerty that it is included... its generally cheaper to find a car already with a 4x4 system factory. unless im wrong and someone out there dissagrees...

Usually best to do a solid axle on the front, easier to do on a 2WD frame.
