Ok, I want to bash my head up against the wall because I can't figure this out. My tire store will not order multiple pairs of tires for me, so I just have to guess and hope the tire I pick fits. I still haven't received my lift, but as soon as I put it on I will need to have my tires ready...and my stock tires are running down to the belts.

I have coming the OME coils and springs all around (firm springs, none are comfort) and a 1" cornfed spacer for the front. I am figuring since I am 2wd I will get about 4" in the rear, and 3.75" upfront...the question still remains, on my 15x8 rim what is the biggest tire size I can fit? This will not go offroad so rubbing won't be too much of an issue.

I am looking at 33x10.50's BFG MT's, but would really like to pull off 33x12.50's so I can get a cheaper tire such as a dunlop mud tire, but don't want to deal with major rubbing. HELP!

If my tire guy couldn't tell me what would fit and wouldn't get me the tire I wanted, whether he had to order it or not, I'd tell him to kiss my shiney hiney and I'd find me a new tire guy!

I'd recommend going up to 16"x8" rims. That is what I am fixing to do Monday and get a set of Goodyear 285/75/R16 MT/Rs. I would think a 12.5 might be a bit big for a 16"x8" rim though.

Anyway, a good tire guy should know crap like that and if he don't, find a new tire guy!

It's not an issue of lift. it's an issue of whether they will hit the a-arms since you want the 12.5's. they will hit the a-arms so they won't work. unless you plan on adding wheel spacers or new wheels with less backspacing. I would stick to the 265/75's since you will be mounting them on the stock wheels that have 4-5/8" back spacing and I believe the 285's on the stock wheel would be awful close to the a-arms. another thing you have to worry about is at full turn do they rub on the wheelwell outside edges and inside walls. more than likely they will, mine rubbed a little with just the 285's but now they don't.

About the lift. 3.75" is quite extreme they may not be able to turn the eccentric bolts to align the vehicle enough at that height. my runner was on the border of not being able to accurately align because of that when I had my saws cranked up to over 3" of lift. yes I realize yours is a 2wd but it's not the cv's that I am talking about. I would think you would need to drop the lower a-arms and extend the spindle to keep the geometry close to stock.

Just my 2 pesos. you also need to specify what vehicle you are talking about, year make model and stuff. I assumed a 4runner in my comments above.

I'm not on stock rims, I'm on 15x8 with a -17 offset...so if I went with 33x10.50 would I still have the same problem?

what's the back spacing on those wheels? I would say you would still rub with that wide of a tire at turns.

 

The backspacing is 3.8"

sorry, I have a 98 4runner 2wd...

 

12.5's won't fit. they'd look cool going straight but they would rub hard while turning. they are simply too wide. even with small backspacing. the smaller the BS the longer the radius the wheel is going to rotate on in a turn bringing the edges of the tire closer to the wheel well inner wall and outside edges of the wheel well, you will rub. my rec. would be to stick with the 10.5's.
