I saw this at target today and thought I'd show you guys, Since I'm lazy and see no point in being all hardcore with onboard air and airing down my tires since I have IFS, I figured for 20$ (In Store) this could be the ticket.. Runs off your Cig. Lighter, puts out 100PSI I wonder if that would be enough to fill a 33" tire? Might not take to frequent use but for 20$ I might just take one for the team and see how it works.. it will fill your tire... in about fifteen minutes. ive used on of those (my grandpa is a harbor freight fenatic lol) and its just sooo slooooww to fill

 

Hmm Yeah about literally 2 miles away from my ORV park there's a convenient 24/7 store that has FREE air... So I air down to 20psi on the trails, drive two miles to the town, get a Monster Coffee and air my tires up, then drive the opposite direction back to town which is roughly 15 min away..

 

OH and HARBOR. FREIGHT. RULES. I buy alot of stuff from there.. its really good stuff if you watch what you buy and don't buy cheep crap..

 

ah yeah that will be way faster and easier than that dinky little compressor. my dad has an old hitachi compressor that busted i really want him to give it to me so i can fix it up and stick it in my truck

 

Oh boy, have fun with that. I gave up on those then I had my 1989 2wd with tires that couldnt have been more than 24" high. I remember I was late for an exam cause I my tire was at 15psi from sitting over the weekend (pinhole leak) and it took my half an hour to fill it to 25psi. I would be a foot pump would be almost as fast.

You have a 22RE, have a look at a York compressor. It will fill my 31s from <10psi to 40psi in less than a minute, depending on RPM. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...mplete-155162/

 

yeah harbor freights not too bad for stuff like grinding wheels, little lights, stuff like that

 

I kinda of had a feeling it would take forever, or wouldn't have enough OOOMPH to fill up my tire if you get whatta mean.. Oh well..

 

Unfortunately, the York root was about the most economical root I found for a decent amount of flow. I air down on soft snow, but air up to street pressure for ice. The last thing you want to do is "float" on ice so on my winter fishing trips I kept street pressure all the time and traction wasn't great, as I didn't have a compressor. I wanted a decent volume so I didn't freeze my butt off while waiting in the dark (gets dark in the winter here at about 5pm).

The only other viable on board air setup I can find is the "MV 150". Its less than $100 and clamps on your battery. It puts out as much air as the more expensive units, but is made in China.

 

i've got a compressor that looks exactly like the one in the pic. got it from Costco for like $35. if it ever dies on me...take it back. so far it's done a pretty good job. i've aired up a tire from 10psi to 30psi in about 1min.

i only bought it because a) it wasn't the cigarette lighter type and b) Costco warranty.
only downfall is no air tank so you can pop a bead if you need it. i'm sure you could rig one up.

 

ah yea i sell that at autozone. works well but ours is cheaper than that price.

I've had this little porto-joby one I got from somewhere since before I got my truck, but I don't like to use it. It's air's up fairly well (as it it works, but it take 4-ever with just 31's), but the thing draws so many amps it makes the 12v plugin hot...

and blows fuses every time I use it...



but it's ok though, cause true onboard air is on the way

I use 2 Cadillac compressors t-ed together they get the job done airing up my 35's takes a bit.

 

I have the one in the pic too. It works well. I haven't timed how long it takes, but it's WAY faster than those ones you plug into the cigarette lighter. They sell it at Pep Boys for like $70. I found mine on amazon for like $58, if I recall correctly.

 

I have this same one too I bought yesteryear from Amazon I think.
Have not used it yet, but I hear it is a good unit.

 

My height habor high volume compressor left me high and dry, this afternoon. Have had it a little less than a year. Hopefully I got the extended warranty if not I'll take a look inside to see what failed.

 

I timed my York compressor again, 40 sec/ tire to fill from 20psi to 40psi, when idle at 600rpm.

 

I'd never sacrifice my AC. This corner of the country you can do without but not in some of the other corners.
