rear main seal

I have found the source of my oil loss which is my faulty rear main seal. What kind of price range am I looking at for the fix and not one of those fake stringpull gaskets. And is this a necessary quick fix as soon as possible?

i would say it is a get it fixed now kinda thing, but you can drive for a while on it, just keep adding oil and keep of the gas real hard.
do you plan on doing to work yourself? if so you'll need the rear seal which wont be that much, and just do the work yourself, it wont be that much at all. the problem is you have to drop the tranny to get to it or you have to get the motor out of the truck, pretty hard to do acutally.

ill talk to you later

RedYota,

What are the signs (besides the oil leakin' all over the freakin' place) of a bad rear main? Mine is pissing oil all over, but I lack the time to look at it right now. If I knew what I was looking for then maybe it would help. Thanks in advance.

P.S. If the motor has to come out, then I don't know if I could put the same one back in...

no signs really other than where the oil is leaking from and my oil pressure is low but that may not be from my seal might just be a yota thing. As for where the oil comes from I looked and noticed there was oil all over the back of my engine but I got a mechanic to confirm it.
