Headlight adjustment, 3rd gen 4runner...revisited, "JDM" pos replacements

I had to buy new headlamps b/c the mounting tabs were busted off my driver side and i had a rock hole in my pass side (water got inside and did damage too).

I was short on patience and money so I got the aftermarket ones, the ones with black around them and black side markers.

OMFG, these are the biggest pain in the ass to adjust, ever. The adjusting screws are smaller then oem, made of cheaper softer plastic and not even shaped 100% right. So combine this with the tight access and they're impossible to adjust.

I thought about swapping out the adjustment screws with the oem ones but can't seem to take those out of the stock lamps. Some sort of weird "clip" holding them in.

Anyways, with out going through the PITA of taking them completely out to adjust (and that would be a guess as to the adjustment) and putting them back in I'm out of ideas on how to adjust them.

Any suggestions?

(ps, its too late to tell me "should have bought oem")

Just like oem 'cept the plastic is softer, the nut is thinner with rounded edges so its way, way easier to strip. Theres no way to fit a screw driver in there of any kind to turn the "teeth" on the wheel either... not way to get pliers or vice grips in there.... is so freaking frustrating!
