i know this will sound like a stupid question but is it bad to go from the left side to the right side on a tire rotation? i normaly just got front to back but, i have always heard you shouldnt go one side to the other. is that right?

Unless the tires are directional you should cross the non-drive tires and move them to the other axle. The driven tires should just move to the next axle.

Directional tires you don't switch sides as they are designed to run in one direction and mounted to the rims accordingly.

Always crisscross from front to back or vice versa.

Front to back every 4-5 k and your good. Unless you got a soft tire like swampers do it closer, as soon as you see them begin to wear. Your tire should be smooth as you run your hand from top to bottom.
