well im about to hit my 40k on my rig and all the talks about lifts....gears....etc. sounds very tempting. I do have the extended 60k bumper-bumper, 100k mi Powertrain Warranty. and the mods would void these warranties right? what would you guys do?

I have also pondered the same ? on my 03 xtra-cab 4x4.The way I look at it is this way,if you lift your truck/runner & say the cv's go then they probably won't fix it.But if your transmission goes or the alternator quits how can they say we aren't fixing it because you have a lift??I've never really bought into extended warranties because I figure if it hasn't broke by 60,000 it probably won't(but that is just me).I'm adding a spacer lift to mine soon & I will only have maybe 5000 miles on my truck by the time I add the lift.I suppose if something breaks I'll just put the stock stuff back on & take my chances(I know what a PITA).
Of course when we bought my wifes Chevy Venture used (30,000 mls)they threw in a ext. warr.& we have used the s*** out of it.The warranty that is!!

the truck actually came with it because i got the truck that just got off a lease at 12k and it had the Toyota Cerfied Used Car warranty. I'm just gonna try to get new Bilstein shocks when i get new tires...i dont think the type of wheeling I do justifies a lift yet but it sure is tempting

Those are the best ways to get ext. warranties "free".I read somewhere that ext.warranties are one of the biggest $$ makers for dealers. As far as the lift,I really don't want to go that rte. either but I got a set of almost new 32's on 15x10 black wheels sitting in my back room just itching to go on my truck.I just need a lift to get them to fit.

I don't plan on any big mods until all the warrantys are up. Then I'll probably do the s/c right after.

Warranty paid off big for me. I had the S/C installed on my 2000 4Runner at about 3,000 miles. Since it was a dealer install, the factory drivetrain warranty provided full coverage for the S/C for the whole warranty period (5 year/60,000 miles).

The nose drive started howling about 53,000 miles. Took it to the dealer and got an entirely new S/C installed under the warranty, meaning No Charge.

Warranty is gone now, ready to get going on my mods!

I got my 02 SR5 V6 for $28,200 brand new (sticker price $33,003)with 0% financing for three years. I wish I had the hood scoop though. but back to your post, everything will be voided as far as the dealer is concerned. and you will have one PITA up hill battle for the dealer to even change a blown fuse, if they see anything aftermarket. If you really wanted the lift, you could just put in spacers. Easy to put in, easy to take out, easy to afford.

I've done so much to my truck I don't even bother asking if any work is still covered under warranty.
