Confused on cylinder#/misfire codes

Hi,

98 tacoma 3.4L.

I'm getting a PO304 code which is listed as cylinder #3 in my FSM.

However, I can't find any info on the cylinder numbering other than what's printed on the drivers sides plug wires and I don't know if these also refer to the codes.

Anyone know what the cylinder numbering is with respect to these codes?

I have seen posts refer to the firing order which does not match what's printed on the plug wires so I'm thoroughly confused.

Thanks

Here it says it is #4 misfire.

And this covers the firing order.

You're right on the code, the 96 tacoma manual has a formatting error which makes it look like #3.

Thanks

Yea,Its confusing because the wire numbers are showing the coil locations not the wire locations.
