Auxilary Starter Relay

Had to get the starter replaced on my '90 4runner 4x4 V-6. Had it done 8 years ago. This time they said I needed an 'auxilary relay' - to the tune of $300! Anyone had this experience?

Thanks
Mike

I've got the manual transmission - it already has a starter relay. I'm thinking they are trying to pull a fast one, at my expense. Anyone have any idea why an auxilary relay would be needed for a new starter?

for less than $10, I'd wire up my own starter system; push button style. if ya wanted to go all out, you could get a cool looking starter-button for maybe $15-$20...
