Pro Comp Stage II 4" lift and 35's and I have no issues so far with cv breakage.
I did have to trim the front of the body pinch weld about 1 1/2" but still have a small rub at full lock left and right. I will be adding a set of B.J. spacers hoping to help relieve that issue Also have 0 turns on the torsion bars still set at stock and leaves the cv's near flat with very little to no angle.
I also added manual hubs and got rid of the A.D.D. not sure how much if any it helped/help's but makes the front free wheel so it doe's in the long run help the health of the cv's and front 3rd.
Had to go to 5.29's also to make up for an ass load of lost power on hill's with the stock 4.11's hope that this helps you out with your decision.

I'm with olharleyman on this one too...
I have a Superlift 4" bracket lift, 1.5" bj spacers and a 3" body lift and have been running 36" tires for over a year now and haven't broken anything yet.
You just have to know your limitations. I don't push my truck into anything I don't think it will handle, and it doesn't make me walk. We have an understanding.

i've got the exact lift, pro-comp stage 2,on my 89 4runner with a 3" body lift and the 35's clear easily. no torsion bar change or shackle lift either. i can post pics if you want.
i would think that you should be able to clear the 35's with a slight torsion crank and a little massaging of the rear, unless you change the shackles.

Yep it's the stock color it was when I bought it back in '94. I just took that pic from the only angle where you can't see all of the faded panels.
A paint job is on my short list. It will go back the same color though. I really like it.
