EFI tank on 22r

Ok so if I was to replace my stock fuel tank with a 1990 EFI tank and then remove and block off the manuel fuel pump. Then run a switch to the electrical fuel pump. Would I be able to just run the fuel line to my carb and have an electrical fuel pump. Are the fuel pressures the same? Any help on this would be awesome!! Thanks fellow yota lovers.

No. EFI pumps at 40 psi and Manual pump for a carburator is only about 8. You can run an electric pump but you will need a pressure regulator to limit the pressure to what the carb needs.

Be careful manually wiring a fuel pump. you only want it to pump when you turn the key on and it needs to turn off if the engine dies in a crash.

you're carb'd right?

so yeah, it could be done. one problem you have is the 40+ psi the pump develops.
Being the way I am, I'd set up a loop like the EFI has, but like this:
tank > fuel pump > hose to engine bay > pressure switch to turn on pump if fuel pressure is less than 5 psi > regulator set to 10 psi > regulator return to tank. then I would tee into the line between the pressure switch and the 10 psi regulator and install a 7psi regulator to supply the carb.

and for toyminator2000:
I would then wire a relay to turn on with the ignition key set to the run position (or on, not ACC) or from a dash mounted switch, and supply fused battery voltage through the relay and the pressure switch to turn on the pump. I wouldn't rely on a manual switch in the dash myself though.
For safety reasons, an inertia switch and other sensors to detect if the truck rolls on its side or over as well as an oil pressure switch and temperature switch could be installed in series with the pressure switch to interrupt the fuel pump if the truck is involved in some sort of accident or engine malfunction.
