I love everything about my t4r except 1 thing

It's disgustingly slow. In the past I've had several really fast vehicles including 04 m3 and an 00 prelude with a custom turbo (411fwhp). I need power again. LOTS, like 2jz lots. I don't know how to weld and I don't trust any shops around me. Do I have any options? Will anyone help me go 2jz?

I have a 94 v6 4x4 sr5 5spd manual. HELP or I'm selling it!

At least you have a V6..

I'm in the same boat, I've almost always had fast cars, going from a cammed 01 SS Camaro to a 22re with like 28hp is brutal. I love the 4runner, and I'm not selling it..But jesus almighty this thing needs more power.

It's an SUV, not a race car. It will get you there many, many, many, many, many times, and back, it just won't be breaking any land speed records.

Get a Supra R154 Transmission, and a 1JZ bellhousing. Then swap the tail shaft of the R154 with the tail shaft from your R150F. This will allow you to mate the R154 on to your transfer case, and the 1JZ bellhousing will allow the long shaft R transmission to bolt onto the 2JZ. Then, find a 1JZ flywheel, and a 7M-GTE clutch/pressure plate.

That should get you started.

(my previous life was a 1.5JZ MKIII Supra. I know just about everything there is to know about JZ motor swaps)

Hmm. This gets me thinking. I wonder if I could fit this:

onto the back of this:

I mean, I already got the bed off 'er.

In all seriouslessness, just drop a 4.3l or sbc350 inner and be done with it.

Slow down and view the scenery, you'll live longer.

It was the turtle that finished the race first.

I can almost bet that the other competitors had a way much more fun than the turtle.

And to the author of this thread: at least you don't have a diesel. lol

I see this every day while driving really slow in my 4runner; people that don't equate speed with fuel consumption.

Higher speed = higher fuel consumption

higher fuel consumption = less money for more important things, like beer.
IMO the 4runner is the last (next to a samurai) vehicle I would want to haul ass in.

Not true. 2j w/ med sized single only gets bad gas milage when spooled. And I've heard of plenty of mkiv's getting 26mpg. I'm getting 15 right now and this peice of has absolutely no excuse for it.

Just needs a different suspension setup but also I'm not looking to haul ass I just want to be seated when I lay into the throttle. I never went faster than 110 in my 411whp prelude.

Is the R154 tran an auto or manual? Is it mkiii or mkiv tranny or is it the getrag 6?
Is the R150F the manual tran in my 94 v6 sr5 manual?

What about motor mounts and crossmember?
The money part isn't stoping me. Its the availability of parts. I want to do this swap if someone can point me in the right direction. I built and tuned my prelude to 411 fwhp with aem ems. It ran for a year on stock internals before I sold it for the M. So I have lots of experience with fi engines and tunning. All the work on all of my cars has been done by me alone so I'm not intimidated by this type of project as long as I have some direction. Thanks guys!

First step, don't call it a T4R. That'll net you a few horse right there. Its a 4runner.

Lots of swaps available, but really, you may be better off selling it. Unless you are looking to wheel it, its not a great "go fast car".

A 2jz swap is probably not going to be bolt in, however, there are a few folks making turbo kits and the like for your truck.

Also, where are you located? If you are looking for help with welding, you can probably find someone on here who is close by and could lend a hand.

Well, you may need to punch out the front winshield since the intake for the rocket is coming thru the back glass...

I've been trying to sell it for the last couple months. I wanted to sell it to get an sc or mkiv and mod from that platform. But F it, if I'm right, only a couple people have done the 2j swap in a t4r. Maybe I'd be the first to put massive power down. It's not a go fast car? That's what people said about my prelude.

^All that work was done by me except the mani fabrication.

Turbo kit for my motor?
how much power will this motor handle on stock internals?
Engine management?
Will the stock fuel system handle 7psi?
What's the exh. manifold look like. Is it twin or single?

Here's my truck

Get a B16 from a 2nd gen Civic. My friend just dropped one in his CRX and DAMN, once that thing hits 5k RPM it is like a Ferrari! But still the 3.4L is faster when Supercharged.

So maybe just Supra motor with 800+ RWHP. lots of money, but amazing power.

I'm not doubting that you can make a 4runner go fast.

However, you have one of the worst front suspensions Toyota ever produced, as well as a drive train that won't handle tons of power.

Its a truck, so it'll roll easily, and won't like 100+ miles per hour.

If you want it to perform to your standards, you'll want something besides the toy 8" in the rear. And something different for the tranny and transfer case. These things were made with very little power in mind.

Can you fix all of that? Sure. But its going to cost way more than it did to make your cars fast.

Anyway good luck with the build. Once you get that 2Jz in there, post up some pics.
