Can I turn those little adjusters that are between the tie rod ends and the tie rod (I think those are the right terms) an equal amount and get my steering wheel back to center? Ever since I went wheeling it's been off a little. The alignment shop said that there wasn't anything broken or bent in there but they wanted 60$+ to center the wheel for me.

You could do a driveway alignment (search it, a couple good threads on it). But if it were me, I'd pony up for a lifetime alignment that way you could have it re-aligned after every wheeling trip for free. Pays for itself after the 2nd time.

 

Lifetime allignment? Who does that?

 

Brakecheck and Firestone that I know of.

 

firestone offers a lifetime alignment for like 180. they'll align mine even if I modify the suspension.

Though I got my lifetime done for $90 on my toyota, and $110 on my dodge at firestone. Wonder if it depends on the make year and model...

Well there ya go. Still, the lifetime alignment was definitely worth it in my opinion.

I'm going down as soon as I can get motivated and getting it checked. The steering is a little 'light' and the truck wanders a bit since I replaced the rear springs. Probably the caster off since the rear's higher now.

You *can* equally adjust both tie-rods to re-center your wheel but if you gotta do like more than two -three turns then I think you might just reconsider getting an alignment =)

I had mine aligned but those damn idler arms bend real easy if you have balljoin spacers upfront. Unless you get a brace on a new idler, it aint worth getting it aligned, I've had to trail-align mine a few times to get it home.

Lifetime alignment sounds like a good way to go tho. Didnt know anyone offered that.
