just bought a 2001 sr5, automatic. lovin' it but am a little concerned because the gear and 4x4 shifters vibrate. they aren't jumping around, but it is constant and increases with speed. i had an '86 4x4, awesome truck, i don't recall this much play. any help would be great!

Noticed the same thing when I got my Runner. Did a search on the subject and it seems to be normal.

 

In my 01 4Runner auto the 4x4 shifter has always vibrated, but the trans shifter doesn't.

 

My auto shifter jerks when I give it gas. never really worried about it. Checked all the bushings and they are fine. I think it is normal, but don't quote me.

 

i think that is the soccer mom addition ?

no just kidding? Anyways get under the truck and check out the driveline and bushings. I have only owned manual Yotas but i do know that my shifter vibrates some.....

 

Seems to be pretty normal, my 99 runner does it too
