Whats the best 3.4L V6 rebuild kit???
i have only found 2 online, LCE and Topline.
http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...0-180B76DE3225
http://www.rpmmachine.com/enginerebu...toyotatop.html
i am thinking the topline is the better choice for 2 reasons, more new parts and a whole lot cheaper.
But i want to know if any one has any experiance with these or can recommend a cheap but very good rebuild kit.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the info guys,
i was not really planning on getting the LCE kit due to price and i dought i could afford the factory kit for a LONG time, it might be something done in the future, but for now, you cant beat $600 for a complete rebuild kit can ya?
I probably wont be getting the kit for another month or two yet.

Does your motor really need all the new stuff like pistons and such Ide say just get a top end kit, some new rings and bearings. just take the pistons out and clean the groves, new headgaskets and top end and call it good. I dont think your really gonna need all brand new stuff. I once though I did but really only if the motor is bad internaly would you need to replace all that stuff IMO

Well i was considering just doing that (can you provide a link to find all of what i should buy in a list or from a site).
But this 3.4L has 164,000 miles from a 1997 so i felt that was a lot for the year and that i should at least give it some new parts to make it feel younger.

ide say get the re-ring kit and gasket set. Get new bearings and rear main seal. Some new head bolts too. I wouldnt worry about the oil pump but maybe get a new water pump. Maybe check out NAPA they sell some decent kits which will be cheaper than the dealer and you wont have to pay shipping. the last HG I got from them was real nice.
I did get new rings and bearings from LCE and it along with the heavy flywheel are pretty much the only things I would ever buy from them

No it is not running badly, but since i will have the motor out while i hunt for a proper ECU/engine harness or adapter, i might as well do what i can now instead of in the cramped quaters of my engine bay. Trust me...nothing would make me more happy than to throw my 3.4L under my hood now
And how do you think my 3.0 gets 25MPG and still produce 125HP at the wheels? the motor only has 113,000 miles and everthing was redone before i bought it, so it is like a brand new motor. when i do the 3.4L i am expecting 29+MPG until i S/C it of course in a few years

I have a question off original topic, where is the fuel cut off switch on a 3rd gen 4Runner? you know, when you roll the vehicle there is a switch that cuts off the fuel supply so nothing catchs fire.
