A340H xmission oil seal replacement

Is the front seal on this transmission a replaceable item while in the truck (engine out, of course)?

Depends on your ambition level. You have to remove the oil pump from the front of the tranny which means you'll need to replace the o-rings on it in addition to the oil seal.
