In case my Terra Grapplers don't come in by Friday I'll have to buy one of the above! The Toyos are about the closest to the Nittos. I think I can get any of the 4 sets out the door for about $700-$750.

Suggestions? Experiences? I'm looking for 265/75r16

I dig the Revo's because they're cheaper than Terra Grapplers and Toyo's and last longer than you expect. Geolanders are softer, so I've never liked those much. I'd say if you don't get your grapplers in time and the Toyo's are available go with those. A second choice would be the Revo's or even BFG a/t.

1 vote for Geolander at/s. The guy at discount tire said he liked how they were wearing compared to other 265/75 AT's and hadn't seen too many people with these. he also said he'd probably start recommending them as an alternative to those who wanted bfg's and wanted to pay less....

 

I'm all about the Revos, mine have never let me down. Excellent wet and dry traction with above average in snow. Mud is another story though...

I just picked up some 265/75/16 Toyo M/T's and I love them, but they did cost big $$$. I think I was about $1,200 out the door after siping and everything.

 

I'm going with Nittos (gettin them on saturday!!!) but I have been hard pressed to choose between them and the Yokohama AT/S. From everything I've seen the Yokohamas are a little better on the road and wear a little slower than the Nittos, but they are a little more $, at least in my area. Toyos are basically the same as the Nittos but for me were a LOT more expensive. My bro-in-law runs the Yokohamas and raves about them all the time.

So, +1 for the Yokohamas

 

Vote for REVO's. Awesome on-road, light snow grip, wet traction, and tread wear. If you're not going to be doing extreme rock crawling or mud flinging, the REVO's are hard to beat.

 

thanks for the input! tabulating votes and appreciating the info. its wednesday and my tg's are not here yet, so that basically leaves tomorrow or come friday morning and i'll have to get one of the three above! i love discount, but c'mon.....why not keep them in stock??

 

x2 on Revo's. I absolutely loved those tires. My current setup is with Geolander AT+2's, and they're pretty noisy - like a mud tire (I just got a really good deal on them. I'd get Revo's any day over Geolander's.

My mom has the Yoks on her '99 Limited and she really liked their overall handling in the dry to the snow/slush and I might go with them if my truck was rarely on the trails but with my 10-15 trips a year off road and with me only averaging about 9k miles a year driving I prefer a little more agressive tire and the Nittos really fit the bill with off road performance and daily driving suties and are quite good in the rain and snow. I've got about 40k on mine and I drive kind of agressive and I'll see a bit over 50k on 'em.

It does suck they've jumped about $150 at Discount out the door since I bought my set in early '05.

I think that's most of the other tires in general. I could've got REVO's in 265/75/16 for ~$500 or the TG's for ~$450. Now, they're both at ~$700.

 

I have the Geolanders and they have lasted 55K + they don't compare to the Revo's which I had before. The Geolanders have to be balanced almost everytime I get them rotated. Never had to balance the Revo's. Revo's were much better in snow/wet/dry also. Both were in 265/75/16. About to order a new set of Revo's as we speak.

There's always the Cooper Discoverer S/T's as well. I just like the tread design.

Anyhow...My friend had Revo's prior to switching to his current Toyo Open Country's on his 4Runner and he was totally on the fence as to which is better. That probably doesn't help much, but you can always flip a coin. Seriously, either way you're getting a great set of meats.

 

From the tread pattern the Toyos look like the Nittos and they do appear to have solid water evac channels like the TGs.

Why would you say they are overrated? I was thinking about picking those up when my Tracker2's wear out. Or possibly the Nitto TerraGrapplers. I'm also loving the Yoko's on the '99 4Runner above ^.

yes, reason i was leaning to the tg's and toyos is b/c of wet weather traction, i live in seattle. i've read too much how bfg's are no good in the rain. makes sense when u look at the tread pattern....
