Question How To Judge Pitman Arm Condition????

Working on freshening my steering before having relay rod recall work.

Replaced: inner/outer tie rods, upper/lower ball joints. Wheel bearings inspected/repacked/etc. After getting them all buttoned up, started yankin' on the whole setup by hand, noticed play where the idler arm attaches. Going to replace that when the new one comes in.

Question: I see no play whatsoever in the Pitman arm. Is there a specific "something" I should be looking for? To my knowledge, this is the last part of my steering to look at, and don't want to replace it if it ain't broke, as they're a real "female dog" to do, but I will if it needs replacing. Just don't know what to look for to judge the condition of it.

Advice? Experience?

As long as you havent tried to heat treat it yourself or gotten in an accident or something it should be fine...just make sure the nut is torqued to FSM specs

Thanks! It looks untouched from the factory... Guess I'll just keep an eye on it for a few thousand miles.
