ok i found a guy that is selling 4 ProComp Xterrain off road tires for sale. 33 x 12.50 x 15 tires - 15x10 rims. my question is will they fit a stock 89 p/u 4x4? and if not what will be need to be done. i found this setup for 400 obo and want to get it. let me know

I can't say either way if it will work without a lift. Some will say they'll work, but I think you're likely to rub.

If you end up not getting them, let me know

 

They will fit, but you will have to hammer in the pinch weld. i have 32x12 with no rub, any bigger and it would rub a little.

But the question should be, what is the number of bolt holes in the rims? How low are the PC Xterrain's worn out? 400 is a steal of a price!

 

they are 6 lug. the guy has them on a trooper right now which is 6 lug and wants 400 obo so i might be able to get them cheaper. also, what pinch weld are you talking about? they are the black ar767 i think it is. wagon wheel style

 

they will rub so bad with a 15x10 wheel and do you have a 22re with stock gears? the pinch weld is near the fender meets the body search around lots of info on this-

just use bump stop spacers. and pound the pinch weld. no problem.

had an 85 with the same tires and wheels. rubbed when cranked and flexed, but not horribly

 

i ran 33x10.50's and i smoked my clutch and cracked the flywheel (real hard to get moving on a hill in 1st gear) and your truck will be slow as shat with out gears.

 

Lift the truck a little. Its defantly gonna rub pretty bad. Are troopers the same bolt pattern as toyotas?

 

i think a toopers pattern is the same. 6x5.5 or 6x139.7

 

yes they are cuz they are considered a gm. im thinking about getting the 2" body lift. but idk yet.

 

body lift or BJ spacers for SDORI will do the job for cheap.

 

BJ spacers will help to fit tires on road, but off road, it won't al all because the the position of the tire is the same when compressed.

You're nuts to think you can turn tires that big with stock gearing and the 22re. I have 31x10.5s and its pretty bad already. Can't imagine having 33x12.5s. Expect to get horrible mileage, like 14mpg.

 

the only reason im thinking of doing it is because the wheels and tires are cheap. i'm not worried about mpg, just want nicer tires. i havean 05 636 to go fast and get good mpg and a 00 celica gts for good mpg.

 

Again, if you pass them by, let me know. I already have 33's on the truck (well the frame), with stock gears and a 3.slow, but the tires aren't gonna last (dry rot). But I've also got an 06 GTI, and it came with a fast.

 

Then buy them.. and sit on them.

Install a 2-3" bl, 1.5" bj spacers and look for some used diffs with 4.56 or idealy 4.88 gears.

 

Go ahead and get em but know that they will rub.I have 33x11.50x16s and they rubbed like hell on the pinch weld, so I pounded that. They rub a little bit on the upper control arms, but it's not terrible. A full inch wider would definitely have issues, especially on such a wide rim.

But get them anyway, fit them up and see what improvements you need to make, and go from there.

 

definitely get them if they are a good deal. just put in some spacers for the bump stops till you can lift!!!!


and I run 33s with 4.10s no problem, I dont know how you could blow up a flywheel....
