obviously the stock color was black, but was it a flat, satin, or gloss finish when they rolled off the showroom floor? i'd like to repaint mine so it looks factory again.

also, if you've repainted yours, what type of paint did you use, and did it hold up?

the one on my 88 was chrome but i painted it flat od green. i think it looks pretty good. i bet semi-gloss would look good on yours.

 

I did just about the same thing on my grill, except I painted it flat black with OD grren fins and headlight doors. Tokk a while but I liked it. As far as a factory look I got some cheap quick dry gloss black and it looks good on my 4runner.
