Rear Speaker replacement 99 4Runner

Ok, im a huge idiot at car audio. So my rear speaker in the door quit, and I dont care to upgrade to 5.25 for the rear with all the adapters and crap. Can I just go out and get some 4' 2-way speakers and straight up replace them with no excessive fooling around (clearance to window, etc.)
Thanks all.

Just take the speaker out of the door, then go match it up at a car audio place. If the sizes match, viola! IIRC the speaker unplugs out of the pod the same way a normal speaker would.

btw, sorry I didn't PM you back. I checked on stock speakers, and nothing good in stock.

ya its the 4.25 size from what I have gathered from searching. Seems most people bump up to the 5.25 size when replacing, but really I dont have the need for anything extensive, and well all the extra adapter plates and spacers just dont appeal to me. Thats why i contacted you to see if you had any laying around so I could just swap it.

The tech at Circuit City said it is 5.25" for the rear and didn't say anything about any adapter.

weird stuff. Everywhere i read and check on the sites like crutchfield it says modification needed for the 5.25's. Also looking at others install pics they use the adapters and spacers. I guess Ill just have to tear it open before hand.
