3VZE Fuel Leak

My mother recently bought a 1990 4runner 2wd (v6, 112k miles) and last week (on startup) it dumped some gas on the ground...Luckily my grandmother spotted it and we turned the runner off.

Gas was dripping off the bell housing(passenger side), but it stopped...So, I followed the fuel lines up to the engine and nothing out of the ordinary....I kinda figured that much since it was dripping off the bell housing, but you know how leaks can find their way to wierd places before they drip

So, i figured it must be coming from the back of the engine...I'd assume somewhere under the intake manifold, possibly the fuel dampener or injector O'rings? The exposed fuel rail and injectors(drivers side) showed no signs of leaking and the leak was on the passenger side...So, how hard is it to remove the manifold and access the fuel rail? Any other ideas of what it could be?

It doesnt leak all of the time, so its hard to trace...

Thanks

Pinch the fuel return line (line going to fire wall not charcoal canister) and it should increase you line pesure and cause your leak.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like it could be the Fuel pulsation dampner leaking, happened to mine. Sounds common.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'll try pinching the line, but im pretty sure its coming from under the manifold.

Anybody else?

Leaking near the frame rail and spraying on the bellhousing? Just a thought.

Its not that extreme.... You can run around town doing errands and maybe 1 out of 5 start ups it will leak. It just drips off the bell housing onto the ground. Its just knowing that its got to pass the exhaust to get there that makes it scary to drive.
