My 89 toyota is a pain to drive. Everytime i hit a rut even on the highway, i will jerk to one side. Could this be fixed somehow? Alignment?

 

most likely alignment and new steering staballizer maybe new tie rod ends also have you looked into the toyota relay rod recall my truck did the same as your and I took it in for the recall and now its better but still needs new staballizer and alignment

 

If your alignment is out too bad, your truck will tend to dart around when you hit a bump.

Check out your front end for wear:

Wheel bearings
tie rods
idler arm
steering stabilizer

 

Correct tire pressure.
