'87 4-Runner that needs engine (22RE)
Here's a nice one I picked up from my neighbor last night and gave it a bath. It's an '87 with the 22RE. It runs, but has a bad rod knock. Engine needs rebuilt or replaced.
Body and chassis are rust free. One tiny rust flaking starting behind driver rear wheel well, see pic. Small dent in hood from a branch, and it looks like it scraped a tree on the right rear quarter. The original paint and top have held up well. The shine is just from a bath, I haven't put any wax on it yet. Paint would buff out nice.
BFG AT's appear to be brand new, full tread. Aluminum wheels cleaned up nice. Tranny was rebuilt recently by aamco, Xfer case shifts fine. Electrical all good, brakes fine. Aisin hubs.
Interior is filthy but complete. Dash is uncracked, surprisingly. Needs driver window regulator and door panel. A few miscelleneous interior plastics are broken (console, radio area, vent controls).
2 keys, Clear Florida title. If you're looking for a solid 1st gen to build, or have a rusty heep that runs good, this may be what you're looking for.
$850 is it sits.
$650 without the red top, but with a ratty black top. (I would RELLY like to keep that top. It would look great on my rig)
$550 with Black top and no tires (bring your own). I could use those BFG AT's on my Daily Driver.

yeah, I can't believe he didn't let me keep the top either. My year long search for a decent red top continues, I guess. And those BFG's are mint. He didn't let me keep them, either.
Looking forward to seeing this one 'Wabbitized'.
It deserves it. I don't know how it survived so well after 18 years (one owner since 1990) in the Florida Sun and humidity.
Wish I would have found it before building my 88. The body on the '87 makes my '88 look like a POS. It won't take much for most of that paint to look new.

Many thanks to UncleBob and his family for their southern hospitality during my trip to FL to pick up the 87. I am back at home, the 87 on the trailer in my driveway, after a long needed vacation...and still on vacation until July 14.
