cold mixture heater or air/fuel mixture heater question

Hey everybody, I'm having some issues in trying to find any real information on this and the Haynes repair manual doesn't help much either.

We have a 87 toyota pu 22r and we are in the final stages of rebuilding the engine. Should have had it done this weekend but we had the problem that I'm going to ask about and went to Rockingham yesterday for drag racing.

Anyways, we bought an engine rebuild kit from engbldr and the kit has everything you need and more except for one part!! We were getting ready to put the intake back on and I figured out one of the gaskets in the kit looked like a water pump gasket, but went on the bottom of the intake manifold. I also thought that we had the other gasket that went along with the heater thing that went onto the plate that attached to the intake.

I think what it is though is the heater, but anyways, I have the bigger water pump gasket and I could put the plate back on. My question though is where do I get the cold air/fuel mixture heater gasket at that did not come in the rebuild kit? We went to Advance and Autozone and neither of them had it either. The rebuild kit that Autozone had, they had the bigger gasket that I have, but it also did not have the smaller heater gasket in it either.

Would I be alright to just use some sealant and seal it up good and put it back on, or should I go to Toyota and try to get the gasket? I'm sure it will have to be ordered.

I really wish though that we wouldn't bothered with this damn gasket. I guess if it isn't broke, then don't fix it applies in this situation. In the process of taking this off though, we broke three bolts, but luckily was able to get them out with visegrips.

Any help on this would be appreciated, Thanks

Does the seal look like an rubber o-ring? That's a dealer item only.

No, it doesn't, it looked flat, but did look like a thick gasket. It looked almost like a 3x3 square gasket or maybe a little bit bigger!

I supposedly will be picking this gasket up at the toyota place today. It was like $6 or something around there. At first the guy couldn't find it on the computer, but he later then found it and ordered it up. I just hope it is the right one when I get there. Thanks
