Valve settings on 3.4 V-6

I have a '98 4-Runner with the 3.4 V-6 and I have been trying to determine the CORRECT valve settings for this engine. My dealership is being less than helpful. Does anyone out there have this info from a Toyota factory manual?

Check underneath your hood. It's written there.

If it's anything like the 3.0 engine like I have, you can not adjust the valves like you would a small block Ford or Chevy.

Mine requires shims to do it, and it's hard job at that from some of the tech's I have spoken with at Toyota dealerships.

But then the 3.4 may adjust like the older ones, I am not familiar with the 3.4 at all.

The 3.4 also uses shims. Gadget just responded to that same question in the 4Runners & Trucks section. What can be difficult is that most toyotas have loud injectors that tick. Comparing my truck to other 2nd gens they all sounded the same so I haven't decided to pull a valve cover to check valve clearances.
