Long story short, there is some surface rust on the metal parts around the left rear door window, right where the plastic trim meets the window.

It looks like it moves a bit back and forth, but I don't quite know how to remove it with damaging it.

it is held on by clips, with the window down it can be carefully popped off

I dont really have time to sit here and argue with you...but ummm where did I put anyone down? I offered help by suggesting to buy a service manual and not holding his hand for every little thing. What did you offer?



BTW, Hugo has mentioned in the past that 10 dollars was TOO MUCH to spend on a service manual so instead he makes new threads instead.

 

you dont have time???? this site is probably your life. lol and if i could get FREE help here and save ten dollars just by doing the unthinkable of (now dont say it to loud) starting a new thread then o ya i'm going to start a new one. lol you dirty boy need to back to the dirty south and get a dirty job. i'm sure that show on discovery channel can help. check it out.

lol i think if i send him a pm it will fix everything. haha your an internet junky thats got nothin better to do that to make himself feel better by puttin others down because that was happened/happens to him now in real life. i donno if i can really say real life.... i guess he's gotta get one first right.

 

i would say buy a manual, they are VERY helpful, if you still have some trouble im the first to go out of my way to help

i have a first gen pickup so i would have to say try to pop it up like said above, then some masking tape to protect the area, a little sanding, a little rustoleum, then some touchup paint from Walmart

I have ask DTB on many occasions for help some times it's useful.

But i have 2 agree that some ? i have read on the forums can easily be found in a manual.

If your a hard core mech or a white shirt tie guy you should have a manual..

Heck I just spent $ on a autobody/ paint manual 14+yrs experience mech but i have never painted a car before Im gonna learn myself

i had a spot of rust forming around there as well last summer, exact same spot. i think you are correct, the trim just rubbed off enough paint until i saw a little spot of orange drizzling down on my beautiful paint

i got mine off, i think i rolled the window down and either popped it straight up or maybe wiggled it a little forward toward the front of the vehicle and pulled it up and out of the window channel. it's still not fixed, i pretty much just put a band aid on it for winter so i'll be doing this again soon. also, check your side mirrors, i'm getting that familiar orange drizzle on the doors underneath the side mirrors too, probably the same thing. gotta bulk up on the POR15!

 

Will that strip come off in the same manner on the Tacoma front door?

I'd guess it would.

 

What did your service manual say?

 

I only have the Haynes manual....what service manual do I need that will tell me how to do such things?
