New Tires and Suspension Questions

Hey I'm new to the forum and I have a few questions that are sort of specific, and not exactly findable in the archives.

I've got a 1990 SR5 V6 4Runner. It's actually in the shop right now for what I suspect is some kind of vacuum problem.

It's pretty saggy in the back end in it's old age (like most seniors haha), and I was thinking about putting this kit

http://www.toyotaoffroadparts.com/OL...E_lift_kit.htm

on there to level it and make it look good (I'll be honest I know it really won't make it off-road any better), and then put some 33's on there so it doesn't look funny.

So I've got two questions:

Will the larger tires make my 3.slow noticeably more of a dog than it already is? If so, how much?

My second questions is, if I get the firm suspension kit from the above link, will I be rattling my brains out driving down the highway and around town? I've been leaning towards that one because the stock suspension always felt "squishy" to me.

depending on whether or not our 4runner is automatic or 5spd....if its a 5spd..with 33's you'll want to regear your axles to 4.88's if your on the highway alot...if you have an auto then you will want 5.29's if your on the higway alot...i think the auto 4runners with factory 31's came with 4.56gears...but im not sure...but yes..it will make your truck more sluggish...

Oh yeah sorry I forgot to mention that it's an automatic. I'm pretty sure it's also the "Sport" package since it has a sunroof and the stock 31x10.5's and according to the info I've found that makes it a 4.88. Thanks for the above reply.

If you're going from 31's to 33's with the V6 auto you will probably want to invest in some 5.29 gears or your tranny will never find overdrive.

I would say throw on your 33's and see how it does. If it bites, then know that if you invest in some 5.29's you can very easily turn around and sell your 4.88 third members on this board. They tend to sell for a good price and quickly, maybe around $250 a piece?

Thanks for the advice. Where would you recommend getting new gears?

I wouldn't reccomend a place really but I would reccomend Precision gear (sold at 4wheelparts.com and elsewhere). I have heard good things about yukon gear and mixed reviews on Genuine Gear but I don't have any personal experience with them.

I have the exact same make and model and I have 4.56 gears. it seems unlikely to me that you would have 4.88's but here is a definite way to check

If you do have 4.88's I would be interested in purchasing them.
