Gas gauge reads completely backwards, need to fix ASAP!!

99' 4Runner with 140K miles, 5-speed. Fill up tank and it reads completely empty, fuel light blinks. Close to empty and I'm showing full tank.

What parts do I need, where's the cheapest place to buy them and are there any writeups on this fix?

I searched for a while but no definite answers on exactly which parts to get. Appears the EL010 TSB covers this problem?
Thank you!

Check with a dealer and see if it's covered under a recall notice. You might be surprised.

Hey, I had the same problem... ...the gauge would drop off when it was full and the light would blink. After that mine was a little different... ...after about 60 miles it would stop dropping of and would stay at full right about until I was empty then it would read 1/2 full. I changed out the fuel level sendign unit and I am waiting for the combination plate NO.3. Just changing out the sending unit stoped the empty reading and the light flashing but it's not reading accurate because the plate is wrong... ...I will let you know when I change that out too and tell you if it fixed the problem.
