Cxrazy's Custom Bumper - PICS

Hey guys,

I finished it, and heres how it came out. I like how it looks, it does look a bit strange, but I think thats because its unique and nobodies ever seen this kind of bumper on a 4Runner before.

It is also not fun to drill holes in 1/4" steel with a cordless drill.

Now Pictures:

Its even, its just I took weird angle shots because I was parked close to my house.

It took me about 6 hours of fab and mounting/figuring out how/where to mount it.

Whats everyone think?

Looks really good, except for the stock bumper behind it. Take that bad boy off, and you'll have a nice looking set up!

It would look much better without it plus you just wasted a perfectly good approach angle.

It's certainly different. Hard to tell from the picture angle but it may look better if mounted higher? Or were you tied by bracket locations.

At least repaint the thing. The stratch marks and rust make it look like a $25 craigslist find.

And trim the fender flares that are hanging down below the stock bumper.... sorry but it looks like crap.

I simply can't believe it....I refuse to believe it. If a person is able to breathe while they sleep they can't possibly do something that dumb; it has to be an April fools gotcha!

There are no inspections in Oklahoma, so that's not a problem.

Its not the normal looking bumper you see these days, and I think thats the first reaction people have. We have mental prototypes on what a 3rd gen/Tacoma bumper should look like, and yours does not fit that prototype.

I think its a good start, but, like others have said, you should take off the stock bumper, and move it up, bring it closer to the body.

Aftermarket bumpers are made for durability, increased clearance (wheels and approach angles), being winch acceptable, and simply for aesthetics. If you keep in mind these key elements, you may have better luck in fabbing a bumper.

it looks like something that you would put on a jeep. and with the bumper on the front for some reason the front end now reminds me of a chevy blazer?

That's no photoshop fellas.

Cxrazy, you have one clean rig, and obviously what you do with it is up to you. But I will side with the others and say that you will eventually find your new bumper is not functional, especially if you do any off-roading. If you do keep it, I say you should paint your original bumper black as well.
